We used to wait

A few days ago me and my boyfriend went on a little walk to the woods near my house and because the weather was good I decided to make an outfit post out of it.

I love that it's suddenly got warmer recently because it means I can wear my leather jacket more! I want to wear it every day forever, I think it makes every outfit look so much better, and it's a lot more flattering that my massive parka jacket. I saw a post on Tumblr about leather jackets improving people's lives and it's getting more and more believable.

I should buy more of these skirts because they're so versatile, and that's my main concern when buying clothes. Cow in Nottingham have loads of this style skirt in all different patterns. I like how they're thin so you can wear them in Summer but with thick tights you can wear them in Winter, you just have to make sure it's not windy..

Tote bags are my new favourite kind of bag because they fit lots of things and are really light and easy to carry. Also, you can put pretty badges and things on them. My boyfriend bought me this one from a comic book and graphic novel shop in Nottingham called Page 45 and if you are in Nottingham you should really go and have a look because it's full of interesting comics, graphic novels and manga. They have books about the art work of Studio Ghibli films which I think are amazing (they have loads of other things too but those are my favourite).

I've noticed that I've forgotten to do the month of photos thing for February so I might start it now, this years going so fast already I didn't realise!

Month of photos - January

You may have noticed that there isn't nearly as many photos as last month. January is normally a really quiet month in general, with work and social life, especially compared to December which is full of festivities. 

1. This photos sort of sums up this month for me. I've spent a lot of time recently eating food, watching films and doing coursework. I have two deadlines next week ah 

2. I know today is technically February but I thought I'd squeeze this photo into the January post. Today I had an interview day at the University of Lincoln for the journalism degree. It was so much fun and I got to do a little radio workshop which was a new experience. I suppose a selfie of what I wore doesn't really explain the fact I had an interview today but excuse for a selfie woo.

3. Although I'm 18 I'm basically still a child so I bought the new Pokemon game last month for 3DS. It's a really good game, it's a lot different to the old ones as it's more 3D, which I prefer. 

4. My boyfriend and two of his friends are making a short film about a man contemplating whether or he should propose to his girlfriend. It's quite a lighthearted, humorous, probably with little sad bits, kind of film. They need funding in order to make the film so if you could share (or possibly pledge?) to their Kickstarter they will be eternally grateful. If you pledge certain amounts you will be rewarded with things like posters, badges and a thank you in the credits, so please have a look!

I've also started using Instagram more recently since I discovered that I can download it on my iPad. I got a bit bored of Instagram before but I've followed more people, there's new filters and a cute little video option that you can apply filter too as well, so it's a bit more interesting than before.

I'll try to make February a bit more interesting and take more photos so I have more to talk about next month!

Game City - Nottingham

I know this is mainly a fashion blog but I thought I'd a do a little post about Game City because I was there and I had my camera.

On Monday me and some friends went to Game City in Fletcher Gate, Nottingham. Game City is powered by Nottingham Trent University, with support from Confetti College. It aims are to show video game culture as art and get people to experience and learn whilst having fun playing games.

 It's on all week (19th - 26th October) and it looks like it's going to be raining for a while so it's a really good idea. At first I did just think it was a room full of games because I went last year and didn't really explore, I just assumed that was it. But it's a bit more than that. As well as the popular stuff like Mario Kart and Grand Turismo they have loads of indie games and the developers are there too so you can talk to them about the games and other interesting stuff.

They also have different events on throughout the week here - schedule, which includes different workshops and competitions. On Saturday there is an Oculus Rift demo which I really want to go to because it's a virtual reality headset, my brother's had a go before and he said it was amazing. 

It's a really nice atmosphere where you can just sit on bean bags with your friends and play loads of different games in one room. I think it's aimed more a younger people because it's during half term and after about an hour me and my friends went. But my brother - who is 14 - has been there all week so far and still seems to find more things to do!

Lush Nottingham Summer Swap Shop for My Sight

Hey! So last Wednesday, I was invited to the Lush Summer Swap Shop in Nottingham. The event was to raise money for My Sight, which is a charity that helps to improve the lives of blind people. The idea of the event was that you bring along 5 pieces of unwanted clothing, pay a £1 donation to enter, then you get 5 tokens (for extra tokens it was an extra £1). Then you look at all the lovely clothes available and pick 5 new clothes, so you end up swapping your unwanted clothes with someone else's unwanted clothes. I think it's a lovely idea and a great way to get rid of old things, whilst getting new things in return - AND it's for charity so it's even better!

Another thing that was great about it was that the clothes you brought home all smelt like Lush! 

I went to the event with Freya (above). She got a really nice body-con green velvet dress, a summer-y floral dress, a lacy peplum-style top and a jumper. I got two tops and two dresses (I did have five tokens but I'm really picky!). Unfortunately, the dresses didn't fit (this made me sad because they were so pretty) and I gave the tops to my mum (I thought they'd suit her more). But despite that, I still had fun and I still think the Swap Shop is a really clever idea. If they do another one I will definitely attend.
