Student room inspiration

In a couple of weeks I'm going to start moving things into my new house in Lincoln for my second year of uni. I'm so excited to personalise my room however I want, and living in a house with 9 other people is going to be interesting too!

My room comes with a desk, a chair, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. So I get all the basics but want to make everything look cute.

Desk spaces

1 / 2 / 3
I really want to have a tidy desk layout, like the ones you see on Pintrest or other people's blogs, with little cacti and polaroid photos etc.

I know these ideas are unrealistic because my last uni desk was a complete mess, covered in books, pizza, loose change, other random stuff. But I can try and keep it tidy for a few days.

Bookshelves

1 / 2 / 3

Over summer I've had a lot of time to waste wandering around charity shops, which means I've acquired a lot of books and now need a lot of space for them. These bookshelves look like they'd take up a lot of space and I'm not sure how much room I'm going to have. I really like the idea of just sticking cushions on top of a bookshelf to make a seat.

Other stuff

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

Here's just some other stuff I thought looked cool but didn't fit into a category. Photos and plants are definitely a necessity and I love the idea of displaying photos next to fairy lights so they stand out.

Does anyone else have any cute student room ideas?

Wishlist: Active wear

In an attempt to encourage myself to do more exercise I thought I'd do a wishlist of pretty active wear and decided that if I pull myself together and join the gym, then I can buy some nice stuff.

I've been looking around online and noticed that H&M, Missguided and Forever21 all have quite big active wear sections on their websites.

H&M
Purple galaxy print sports tights - £7.99
Grey sports bar - £12.99
Blue galaxy print sports tights (3/4 length) - £14.99
Tshirt - £9.99
H&M's collection seems to have everything in 4 different colours, blue, pink, black and grey, so you can easily match outfits. It has the most simple collection of the three sites, with all the basics you need in black and grey but also in more vibrant pinks and blues, if you feel like standing out a bit.

Missguided

Grey hoodie with curved hem - £20

Blue cross back sports bra - £10
Missguided have partnered with Ministry of Sound to create active wear to fit with their new collection of music Ultimate Dance Workout. This range is slightly more expensive than the normal Missguided but the designs are more interesting, such as the lace up detail crossed leggings featured above. Similar to H&M, Missguided love their water/galaxy like prints in blue and pink.

Forever 21

Black and white tie dye crop top - £7
Laser cut pink running shorts - £13
Keith Haring leggins - £19

Blossom and grey sports bra - £8.40 (currently in sale)
Forever 21 has the most varied active wear section of the three sites. They have a range of colours and styles of active wear from running shorts to yoga rompers. I also really love the Keith Haring leggings featured above.

Rainy Sunday ootd

I realise the photos are quite bad quality, they were taken on my phone.

In these photos I am wearing...

White Fred Perry - here
H&M floral skirt - similar here
Chestnut leather Zatchel satchel - here
Gold and purple Casio - here
Silver Pandora - here

Today I drove to Asda, went to see my boyfriend, watched TV and played Animal Crossing. Sounds boring but I love lazy Sundays.

Did everyone else have a nice Sunday?

Christmas outfits

I can't really afford to buy new clothes recently because I've been doing Christmas shopping but I have loads of ideas for pretty Christmas outfits. So, instead of buying loads of things, I am going to make collages of all the Christmas outfits I want.

I thought the contrast of the boots with the elegant shift dress made something more comfortable and appropriate for Christmas with the right amount of formality. This really makes me want to pair my purple Dr Martens with a simple shift dress now.
This outfit is more comfortable with the jumper but still elegant and formal with the jewelry. I would probably wear an outfit like this for Christmas if I hadn't worn my tartan skirt last Christmas (I don't like repeating outfits).

Cheesey christmas outfit in case you want to get really christmassy. If this was me I would pair these items with something simple like jeans. Personally, I wouldn't be that confident and just go for the socks or the hat but why not wear as many Christmas things as you can?
Velvet is a perfect winter material because it's so warm and cosy. I also love the colour because red is a typical christmassy colour. The tights are really different because they have interesting detail rather than just being plain black. This is my favourite out of my Christmas outfits and if I could afford it, I would buy something red velvet to wear.

So let's hope I can find something pretty to wear for Christmas then I can do an outfit post about it!

Mint and thigh high socks

So I was lying in bed on twitter and thought maybe I should do something productive like posting the look I've been meaning to do since last Wednesday, so here I am!

In these photos I am wearing a mint tank top from Topshop - I've really missed wearing it because you can only really wear it when the weather's nice, I love the pastel colour too. I bought it last year so they don't have it anymore, I tried to find it or something similar on the Topshop website but I couldn't find anything, they still have lots of other nice things though!

I am also wearing Levi's 505 cut offs from Cow vintage in Birmingham. I really need to get some new ones because I didn't try these on and they're massssssive, but they're okay with a belt.

It looks like I live in my black coverse by the look of my recent posts but it's only because I was riding my bike and you can't bike in creepers!

I love this hoodie, it's my boyfriends and should probably give it back but it's so nice! This is similar or it might be the same one.

I love it when the weather is warm enough to wear socks instead of tights, these are also from Topshop but you can buy plain thigh high socks from pretty much anywhere.

So that's what I wore last Wednesday! I need to go and get ready for college now. I'm hoping that it's warm outside but I'll probably layer up so I don't get cold.

Vintage checkered shirt and abandoned buildings

These photos were taken on Sunday when I went to an abandoned building to do some photography coursework but due to revision and other things I've only just got round to posting them. I'll probably just stick to posting two posts a week (mostly at weekends) anyway because then it'll be consistent (unless I miss a week out)

I am wearing...

Vintage checkered shirt from Cow Vintage
Jeans from Peacocks
Converse from a friend
Jacket from H+M
Hoody from American Apparel
Rucksack from American Apparel

I love checkered shirts because you can wear them in so many different ways, open or buttoned up or tied up or under pinafore dresses or over hoodies... the list is endless! I also love how comfy they are, if you buy a vintage one they're sometimes a bit itchy but not all of them are. I feel like I live in this one so I think I need to buy some more.

I've also posted some of the photos that I took at the abandoned building for my coursework, to see more go on my flickr here. I've decided to start using it since I've nearly finished my coursework.

I've posted this look onto Lookbook too if you want to hype it!

Denim pinafore

My cat Lotti

Hello! I've been meaning to post this since Thursday but better late than never! I've wanted a pinafore dress for ages, so on Wednesday I went into Topshop, searched everywhere for a black one but found this denim one instead which looked nice. I tried it on and I don't know what it was but it didn't really look right. So I went to Miss Selfridge and bought this one! It was £40 but with student discount it came to £36 (yay). I've worn it for the last three days because it's so versatile, yesterday I wore it with a vintage shirt and the day before with another jumper, it's definitely my favourite piece of clothing at the moment. I've just noticed from the photo on the website that you're supposed to cross the straps at the back and I didn't realise... oops...

I'm also wearing a stripy jumper that I got from H&M last year, I like it because it's quite thin but still keeps me warm. My creepers are from Underground (if you haven't looked before you should because they have loads of different styles and heights of creepers and other shoes!) My scrabble necklace is from Dollybowbow, she doesn't sell scrabble necklaces anymore but she does do loads of other kitsch-y style jewelry and stuff for your home too, so you should have a look!

I'm going to do a Lookbook post later so be on the look out for that.

Lots of Love
