Penny Skateboarding

(It seems I can't get the html code to work again so to hype this look click here)

Action shot of me getting scared and jumping off...

It felt like it was a bit warmer today so me and my boyfriend decided to go and skateboard a bit. I'm not very good, I just like rolling down hills.

In this look I'm wearing my Washington jumper from Cow vintage (in Nottingham) my dress is from Topshop I've had it for years but still wear it, also wearing my grey Converse from Office. I'm trying this whole not-wearing-foundation thing partly because it's a lot of effort taking it off and the end of the day and partly because it might make my skin better, I haven't noticed any difference yet but I'll keep you informed!

I can't wait for it to be Summer so I can skateboard more often it's so fun! It's a bit scary too if you go too fast. This is my brother's skateboard though, I wish I had my own!

My boyfriend took all these photos (apart from the one of him that I took) so go on his flickr and have a look at all of the other pictures of me that he's taken > flickr

Penny Skateboards are so cute because of all the bright colours of the decks, trucks and wheels, if I was to properly skateboard I would definitely buy one (if I had the money).

The skateboard I'm using is called a Nickel and is 27'' you can also get little ones called Pennys which are 22''

Do you like skateboarding?

Dr Martens & Urban Canvas

On Wednesday me, Ellie and Freya were asked to go and visit the Nottingham Dr Martens shop to see artists from Urban Canvas, Peter Barber and Anthony Donnelly, work their magic on the blank wall inside the shop. They are professional graffiti artist and mural painters. They started this piece on the 25th of March and finished it on the 28th. We visited the shop on the 27th so it was almost finished and looked amazing. I like how the lace pattern runs throughout to show Nottingham Lace and the lovely detail of the Dr Martens. It works really well in the store and matches the interior perfectly.

The piece was inspired by things associated with Nottingham such as Nottingham lace, which you can see in the background, and the iconic lions that are in Market Square, behind the girl in the piece.

Similar pieces of art took place at Cardiff, London, Glasgow, Manchester and Bristol stores. It is part of a larger project by Dr Martens to embrace local artists. Last year the artists Inkie and Mark Kennedy created pieces of artwork for the Bristol and Manchester stores.

Also, I decided to throw in some general photos of the shop itself because it's one of my favourite shops in Nottingham, reflecting British heritage with the leather sofas and wooden floors. There's also a jukebox (should've taken a photo oops) in the shop with music from local bands old and new.

Hearted shaped satchel is so lovely

Dr Martens wellies! They're so much cuter than normal wellies

These remind me of rhubarb and custard sweets

So I strongly suggest that if you live in or are visiting Nottingham visit the Dr Martens shop, even if you don't like Dr Martens it's lovely so go and have a look!

Snow in Spring?

Hello! First outfit post on my new blog oooh exciting. It was freezing today even though I was wearing my itchy thick jumper, that's one of the negatives of vintage jumpers, they tend to be really itchy and a little bit uncomfortable but they look lovely so you just have to put up with the itchy-ness.

In this outfit I am wearing my jumper from Cow vintage, my jeans from Peacocks, my beanie hat from New Look, my hoody from American Apparel, Dr Martens from Dr Martens shop in Nottingham and pikachu necklace from Little Tea Cup. You can hype my outfit here on lookbook, I tried to put the hype button into this post but I get really impatient with things not working on blogger so I decided to just put a link in. Also follow my lookbook here if you like!

For my photography coursework I'm doing a project about abandoned houses so me and my boyfriend went to take some photos today (otherwise I probably would have stayed in bed avoiding the cold). It's a really interesting project to do just maybe a little bit dangerous. I'll put a link to my Flickr when I get more photos on it (it only has two at the moment).

I'm ready for Spring

I don't think I'm alone when I say I miss Spring (mainly being able to wear floaty dresses and skirts). If you live somewhere warm, me and rest of the British population are very jealous of you. I remember this time last year I was wearing shorts and tshirts, like in this photo for example.

Me trying to skateboard last year

So because I can't wear pretty dresses or go outside in the sun, I decided I would make a post full of Spring pictures to get me in the mood for Spring (even though it's not here yet).

ooh it's me again

Maybe some of these pictures are more Summer than Spring but they still look pretty!

Pinafore dresses

Pinafore dresses are back but with a twist, they now come in denim and corduroy. These beautiful vintage looking dresses are my new obsession. It is the most versatile piece of clothing ever, they could like nice with absolutely anything, jumpers, tshirts, crop tops, trainers, creepers, boots. So they're perfect for unreliable English weather.

Alexa Chung is the Queen of pinafore dresses and has made me want one even more. I love how she can make them look casual and smart.

Topshop

This pretty pinafore is from Topshop and is £42. A little on the pricy side but anything over Primark prices is my idea of pricy. With a white top it could look lovely and fit in perfectly with the monochrome trend.
Miss Selfridge

I walked past Miss Selfridge about a week ago, saw this lovely dress in the window and fell in love with it. The spots are so cute. This dress also fits in with the monochrome trend (monochrome everywhere!). It's been reduced from £37 to £27 which is amazing because of how new and on trend it is.

Topshop have loads of pinafore dresses here
So I want a pinafore dress but unless I get some sort of income I won't be able to (sad times) but I can still look at them on the internet and wish I had one.
